The dresser got cut down and fitted under the bed rail. All thats left is moving the drawer slides, cutting a face for the dresser out of 1/8" luan so it has moreof a custom feel, and cutting drawer fronts from pine and oiling them to match the kitchen drawers. I'm happy with how it's coming out. Not much storage space as the plastic drawers, but it looks a lot less hacked.
Another thing that got done today was resealing the little window. One less leaky window is always a plus.
Oh and here's an updated photo of the headboard painted to match the cabinets. I really love how it came out.
All that's left is to danish oil the top, and figure out how to match the lighter strip of wood along the back to the aged pine. I suppose I could add a little bit of a golden stain to the Danish Oil. Anyone ever try this? And I'm still on the fence of Should I Oil It? or Should it Be Varnished?
So I was all ready to start painting the walls the "Morning Mist" I started painting last year. It was abit more lilac than Alex like, or even I expected. A very soothing color. I had bought a gallon of it last summer. Barely used a pint of it, not cheap paint either. It Valspar's signature collection in flat. I love it as it has anice chalky feel and covers excellently. It makes the grain of the cheap luan wall board look really nice and hides the grain (I'm all about the details). Well I decided I was going to Grey it up a bit more by adding blue from our new livingroom color, and a tad of black. It would have made the grey abit more masculine.
I pry open the top, and the whole gallon of paint was Solid! So upset. I wanted to paint tomorrow in the daylight so I could button up the bed area. Nope. Tomorrow I head to Lowes for another gallon of a better color.
Well with that, I say goodnight all!
